The Sanjay Gandhi National Park or the Borivali National Park is located in Borivali to the east of the Thane district and at distance of 40 km north from Mumbai. The park extends from the latitude 190°21' in the North to the longitude 720°58' in the East. This Park boasts of being the only National Park in Mumbai.

Description of Sanjay Gandhi National Park:
There are mainly two divisions of the forest kind of the park, moist deciduous and Semi Evergreen. This gives rise to a wide array of flora at the Park, ranging from teak, mangrove scrub. Kedamba, karanj, shisham and various species of acacia, ziziphus,euphobia and other flowers. The animals found at the sanjay Gandhi national park include spotted deer, black napped hare,. Barking Deer, Palm Civet, Mouse Deer, Rhesus macaque, Bonnet macaque, hanuman langur and Sambhar. Thee are also as many as 38 species of reptiles found here, in this wildlife sanctuary of Maharashtra.one of the major tourist site located in the middle of the Sanjay Gandhi national park is the Kanheri caves, which has the biggest Buddhist monastic establishment on the Konkan coast.

The flora in Sanjay National Park chiefly comprises of mixed forests dominated with Sal and extensive patches of Bamboo forests. Other major plants in the sanctuary include Salai, Dhawada (Anogeissus latifolia), Palas (Butea monosperma), Gurajan (Lania choromendelica), Semal, Mahua, Harra, Haldu, Ber and Tendu. The rich and diverse vegetation supports a wide variety of wildlife in the Park. How to Reach - Sanjay National Park:
The Park is located on the Riva - Sidhi - Mirjapur - Varanasi State highway and is at a distance of about 60 km from Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, the main entry point to the park. One can approach the park from Sidhi via villages Majholi-Chaparadol then finally at entry point near the village Dubari Vastua, 60 Km. from Sidhi. Jaora Railway Station (20 km) is the nearest railhead from Sanjay National Park.
